A WRC Advocate serves an essential role in delivering care and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking and sex trafficking. Roles & Responsibilities
1. Direct Services
- Provide trauma-informed case management and crisis intervention services guided by evidenced based policies and procedures.
- Provide direct services to clients through an empowerment model that invites the client to be in charge of their own healing journey.
- Empathize and provide emotional support for clients, while also maintaining clear boundaries through a structured professional relationship.
- Provide services to clients in the office, hospital, police station, or in the city or county courtroom as necessary.
- Contact and communicate with law enforcement regarding safety of clients.
- Arrange local transportation and emergency relocation for clients.
- Offer information and support regarding legal rights and options for clients, and collaborate with professionals to navigate the legal process.
2. Shelter Services
- Perform assessment and intake services for clients referred through law enforcement and medical providers.
- Make decisions as to admittance of shelter residents using approved guidelines and coordinate with the Programs Manager and Executive Director.
- Assign room and educate resident on security system, laundry and resource room.
- Provide emergency food, clothing and personal toiletry items.
- Review shelter rules and regulations to new residents and ensure compliance.
- Supervise shelter activities, promote positive resident interaction, offer conflict resolution during disagreements, educate residents about positive communications, and routinely provide parenting and life skills guidance.
- Maintain regular communication and case management appointments with residents.
- Establish and document discharge plans for residents.
3. Documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of client records.
- Maintain records of services provided and outcomes in client management software.
- Track utilization of resources, services and support.
4. Collaboration
- Coordinate with WRC staff for client support and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Programs Manager and Executive Director to effectively conduct WRC business.
- Establish partnerships with law enforcement, medical professionals, legal services, and other relevant organizations. Coordinate with local agencies to ensure best care and wrap around services for domestic violence and sexual assault cases.
- Update the advocacy team and Programs Manager on client progress.
- Provide community based educational programming to help raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault recovery and prevention.
Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings, monitoring sessions, community events and other agency related business.
- Complete initial victim services training upon hire and annual staff training.
- Complete confidentiality training and uphold and protect client confidentiality.
- Maintain knowledge of domestic and sexual violence, sex trafficking, harassment and stalking trends, laws, local social services resources and support processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or the equivalent.
- This requirement can be waived if the candidate has more than 3 years of full-time advocacy in a social justice and/or social services role.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills; proficiency in use of computer programs such as Google Suite and MS Office.
- Have strong time management and task prioritization skills.
- Have the ability and desire to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Have the ability to seek support, articulate needs, and receive feedback from clients, and co-workers.
- Ability to pass a criminal history records check and fingerprints upon hire and every five years of employment

Roles & Responsibilities
1. Program Development and Evaluation
- Serve as a member of the WRC leadership team.
- Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in executing the development of long-range and annual program plans.
- Guide WRC’s community-based programs, including various outreach, community education, and domestic/sexual violence prevention.
- Ensure the highest quality of advocacy and support through WRC’s emergency shelter, legal/medical advocacy, crisis counseling, and support groups.
- Work with the direct service team to respond to the changing needs of survivors and the community.
- Accountable for ensuring new and existing programs and services are consistent with community and participant needs, donors and grant funders expectations and contribute to the organization’s mission.
- Create and implement annual evaluations of WRC’s programs and services.
- Develop new programs and services.
- Provide leadership and supervision to WRC’s direct service team.
- Ensure all programs and services are adequately staffed, providing coverage for direct service staff and volunteers in emergency situations and special circumstances.
- Develop and implement team training as needed.
- Manage and maintain WRC’s electronic client data management system.
- Provide input on grant proposals to acquire funding for programs.
- Build partnerships with both local and national systems-based and community stakeholders in the field of domestic and sexual violence intervention and prevention.
- Provide domestic violence and sexual assault education specific to the community needs.

- Provide direct services to clients through crisis hotline, crisis counseling, assessments, and intakes.
- Advocate for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault/abuse.
- Meet with clients at the hospital or police station, as necessary.

- Review and update shelter policies on an annual basis.

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree, LCSW or LCPC preferred
- This requirement can be waived if the candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or the equivalent and more than 3 years of full-time advocacy or crisis intervention in a social justice and/or social services role.
- Minimum three years of management experience and program development experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
